Our History

Faith Evangelical Free Church began in October 1984 as a Bible Study.  It was launched by the EFC Rocky Mountain District to reach families in the growing Briargate section of Colorado Springs.  By September 1985, the Bible Study had grown, so the group rented meeting space on North Union Blvd. and officially organized as Northeast EFC.

In 1989 the cost of rented office space for Sunday School on North Union increased, so the church moved to Timberview Middle School.

In 1991 Northgate Bible Church merged with the Northeast EFC and together they formed Faith EFC.

In the summer of 1992, the Lord blessed Faith EFC with the opportunity to purchase an existing church building at 6065 Oakwood Blvd, and we began services in our own building in September of that year.

Over the next 15 years at Faith, the congregation nearly tripled in size from an average attendance of 50 to 130. The original note on the property was paid-in-full, and the church property annexed into the City of Colorado Springs.  The first phase of developing the property was completed resulting in new sanctuary, kitchen and nursery rooms which were dedicated in March 2004.

Sam Goertz served as the Senior Pastor during this transition.  Our current Pastor, Gordon Wood arrived in May 2009.  The church has continued to grow and in 2024 added Greg Fell as Adjunct Pastor for Development.

As we look forward, we have the unique privilege of building upon a rich heritage which was based on clear sense of mission.  We can also look to the future with eager expectation because of the vision God has given to us exalting God, edifying God’s people and evangelizing God’s world.
