Reflection Questions
  1. Have I ever been witness to a serious injustice?  Who was being treated unjustly?  What was the situation?
  2. The chief priests declared, “We have no king but Caesar.”  What were they conveying with that statement? What significance did it have for Pilate?
  3. Read Luke 2:34-35 and John 19:26-27.  Spend a few moments reflecting on Mary’s heart during Jesus’s ordeal.  What makes her a model of faithful trust in God?
  4. Why does John take such care to explain how Jesus’s crucifixion fulfills scripture?  Why is this important for us today?
  5. How is Communion a reenactment of this narrative of Jesus’s crucifixion?  Why do you think Jesus instituted this practice for his followers?
